Some TV stations have started to simulcast that TV channels through the web and these web portals are provide an excellent opportunity to earn additional advertising revenue for TV broadcasters. People have started to watch their favorite shows while they are working or surfing the web. The programs are viewed in a window which allows for the placement of ads in the viewer skin, provide overlay ads, and even provide links to ads in hot spots on the video display.

At an Internet marketing group meeting, one of the members described how they used Google’s Adword paid placement option to place ads on these web portals during specific types of TV programs. The example he gave was to promote a tool during a specific tool infomercial program. He said his conversion rate (buy rate) was very high as viewers were already highly interested in the subject and they could directly click on the ad and continue to watch the TV program while they placed their order.
